Mixed Biryani
$14.99"So red, it looks like it would glow in the dark." Lamb chunks and chicken shawarma over fragrant rice, crowned with the famous green sauce.
Authentic Bangladeshi Cuisine
Mother's recipes. Loose spices from back home.
In 2005, Nowshed Hossain left Bangladesh with nothing but his mother's recipes and a prayer on his lips.
Two years later, on Atlanta's legendary Buford Highway, he opened Bismillah Cafe. The name is not a brand — it is the invocation every Muslim speaks before beginning something sacred. بسم الله — "In the Name of God."
Today, the Hossain brothers run two operations side by side: the cafe and the market. The spices are loose — never from packets. The cooking is pure Bangladesh, a tradition older than borders, carried across oceans in the hands of one family.
“I love Atlanta. It's like Bangladesh… the weather is just like Bangladesh.

The Biryani, As Served
Never from packets. Ground and blended by hand, the way it's done in Dhaka.
Often called "Indian" for accessibility — but this is distinctly Bangladeshi cooking.
Not fusion. Not innovation. Transmission. Food memory carried across oceans.
Every ingredient, every dish, every day. No exceptions, no compromises.

Friday
Slow-cooked until the meat surrenders from the bone. Rich, aromatic, unforgettable. Worth planning your week around.
"A really good take on a classic dish." Large, tender chicken pieces in thick, creamy tomato sauce with fluffy basmati rice.
Traditional
The crown jewel of Dhaka. Raw marinated meat layered with rice and slow-cooked together — the way the Nawabs intended.
Crispy pastry stuffed with seasoned ground meat and peas. A complimentary samosa while you wait — that's the Bismillah way.
"I want to put it on everything." That's not us — that's The Infatuation's reviewer. Fifty cents. Life-changing.
"Nothing here really misses the mark. The mixed biryani rice is so red, it looks like it would glow in the dark."
Juli Horsford, 2024"Heavily satisfying Bangladeshi comfort food with aplomb. Nuanced layers of cumin, coriander, and ginger."
Brad Kaplan, 2015"$10 Iftar boxes, a roadside gem. Regular spices from back home. Loose spices, not the pack."
